The Great Southern Tour (April 17-April 29, 2022)

Epic adventure and a great vacation with my wife. Started with an overnight in Louisville, Kentucky which is my hometown. Was born there and lived there for a number of years. Fun to see some of the sights around town. Took this photo from the Indiana side of the Ohio River.
Made a stop in Nashville, Tennessee on April 18-19 and took this photo at the Country Music Hall of Fame. First time to tour it and it was very interesting to see some of the items from so many legends of Country Music. We also wandered around downtown during our two nights there.

Planning a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio later this Summer.

April 20 visited Birmingham, Alabama and the amazing Barber Motorsports Museum. Some 900 motorcycles to be seen there, hands down the best motorcycle museum I have ever seen. Even Debbie enjoyed seeing it. Some of the motorcycles went as far as 1894 and many from the turn of the Century. A slew of more modern motorcycles as well. Not sure if there are really any of note that are not to be found here. Spent a fine overnight in Birmingham.
Made a stop for four days in Navarre, Florida. Saw this bird as well as many other amazing sights. We also toured the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. Unlike these other museums, that was our second time to visit the museum in the past few years. Good though in that both my wife and me worked in Naval Aviation during our time in the United States Navy.
Stopped in Huntsville, Alabama overnight to see the US Space and Rocket Center. Have been to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida a few years ago, but first time visit to this very fine museum. Enjoyed the visit and seeing another mighty Saturn 5 rocket which you can see at left.
Finally, an overnight in Bowling Green, Kentucky to see The Corvette Museum. Very cool museum with some fantastic cars. Included are these that a few years ago were damaged with a sinkhole collapsed at this very spot in the museum. Repaired the hole, but put these cars on display. Some nicer ones can be seen in the background.

After that spent two nights in Rising Sun, Indiana (which we frequently visit)  before heading home on April 29. It was a fantastic time and a wonderful adventure. More coming up soon!

Into April (April 10, 2022)

Beautiful Spring day, and took these photos in Dayton. All sorts of things going on there, including a baseball game (between Dayton and Ft. Wayne) ..the dogwoods (and probably some Bradford Pear Trees) are all in glorious bloom. It was warm, the skies were cloudless, a nice change from the past few weeks. Spring is coming, but does not seem to be in any sort of hurry. Still, it was t-short weather here, and did see a number of motorcycles out. Though in a change from the last three years here, mine is still waiting for better weather. The forecast for the next few days is looking really damp. That said, it's looking a lot like Spring.

Inbetween the Seasons (April 2, 2022)

Up early on a rare of late sunny day. Usually, I would be into the motorcycle season but not this year. A combination of rain, cold and even some snow flurries during the last few weeks have delayed it this year. Getting ready won't take long, as I have done some work on the bike, but waiting for nicer days. Expecting rain virtually all this week. Crops will like it though I would imagine.

Did get out to New Carlisle this morning for the Krispy Creme doughnut run, and visited with the birds around the lake. Beautiful day in the 50's later today. We have even had some 70's but only for very short periods. Hurry up Spring!

Spring 2020 (Day 1) (March 20, 2022)

Yeah, its officially underway. Got out for a while, this fellow was resting in my yard while I was doing some work on my motorcycle to get it ready for the 2020 Riding Season here in Central Ohio. He was out watching me for a long time on what was a very sunny and warm day. The first full day of Spring will be even warmer. Getting out with my wife to enjoy some 70's temperatures on this Monday (the first full day of Spring). Winter was nice but looking forward to the upcoming season.

Looking forward as always to the adventures to come, and we have some fine ones ahead!

The Return of Winter (March 11, 2022)

A surprise of sorts, as it is still not officially Spring (which is a few days away) got a bit of Winter Wonderland this afternoon here in Central Ohio. A big late Winter storm came rolling in to the area and is dropping snow as I write this.

As of yet, it is not sticking to roads for it has been warm here (in the 50's and 60's) the past few days here. For that matter, by Monday will be that temperature once again, so this is expected to be a short term event lasting through tomorrow.

That said, it is very beautiful and I do enjoy watching the snow fall.

Visit to Rising Sun Indiana (March 5, 2022)

Spent 24 hours with Debbie at Rising Sun, Indiana, which is a favorite place of ours. Got a few photos while we were there, and certainly is a fun place to go.

Bunny photo was taken during the morning walk this morning. First bunny photo of 2022, I am quite fond of rabbits and have quite a few around here, though have not see them of late. Did see the Indiana bunny this morning.

I also gave a "Salute" to the former President, and friend of Putin.

Touch of Spring (February 21, 2022)

On a Monday, got 60 degree temperatures and with my wife took a long drive (just under 100 miles) around Ohio. Saw a few sights and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Unfortunately, winter will be returning for a few days. Its that up and down time of year, but Spring is not far away and looking forward to it.

Barber Motorsports Museum, Birmingham, Alabama (April 26, 2024)

If you are into motorcycles and some amazing cars, this is your museum. Literally the largest motorcycle museum in the world with over 1100 ...
