Made a visit with my wife Debbie to the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio to see the flyover by the two C-47's today on this anniversary.
The C-47 was a very important aircraft in the history of aviation both military and civilian. It was one of the most successful aircraft in commercial aviation as the DC-3. That plane had a long history as an airliner from the 1930's well into the 1950's. In fact many DC-3's are still flying to this date. As to the C-47 it was a big reason for the US success in WW2 doing many important jobs.
Those jobs included transport of supplies, men, paratroopers, glider towing and other rolls. In fact the C-47 even served in the Vietnam War.
While at the museum, we parked near the WWII buildings The control tower in the foreground is a replica, the building behind that actually came from the Air Fields in England.
The museum is a favorite and wonderful place to visit and enjoyed seeing the history fly over today.
