Maine! (July 10-17, 2022)

First ever trip to the State of Maine, with a few stops along the way. Due to the problems the airlines are having decided to drive, and a beautiful if long (981 miles, one way) it was. I had never been there though my wife was stationed there during her Navy service. Enjoyed seeing the amazing sights, got my first ever Lobster Roll (twice in fact) and also enjoyed the history to be found there. It is a remarkable and beautiful place and after visiting I can see going back in the future. On the way home, we made a stop at a favorite place. Niagara Falls is always worth a stop.

Carrilon Historial Park (June 28, 2022)

My wife and I went to a favorite place, Carillon Historical Park in Dayton. Weather was cool and humidity was down, and a good place to get out too. It is a favorite of ours when the Christmas lights are out in December. The Wright Flyer III is the most complete Wright aircraft, was perfected near here at nearby Huffman Prarie. Lots of interesting and amazing sights to see, full of Dayton history and a great walk on a beautiful late June day.

Visit to Indian Lake (June 27, 2022)

Made a trip with my wife up the road to Indian Lake, Ohio. Had read they had a bad algae problem, and indeed they do. Still fun to see the big lake.

My wife and I split one of the huge hamburgers at the Tilton Hilton. That is a favorite restaurant of ours at Indian Lake and as always it was fantastic. After that headed back but made a couple of stops in New Carlisle, Ohio. One stop for ice cream, and one to explore a local car show there at a local bank. Was a fantastic day trip and a wonderful time.

Dayton Day (June 18, 2022)

Spent a few hours in Dayton on a very fine Saturday. Had an appointment with my wife, and then afterwards we made a stop at Warped Wing Brewing for some refreshment. Always enjoy that place and have a fine time there.

Went by Deeds Park to see the fountains, but due to the breeze which was blowing quite strong they did not run the fountains. They are really something to see and will add them to a future post.

Looking forward to a return visit on two wheels or four. It is a fun city with a lot of things to see and do.

Hot time in Indiana (June 12-17, 2022)

Spent five days around Rising Sun, Indiana. This helicopter in Aurora, Indiana is a new sight, was added since our last visit. Debbie and me had a wonderful time though with a heat index of over 100, it was damn hot! Spent a lot of time inside. Did see Top Gun Maverick for a second time one afternoon, really like that movie.

Wandered some around Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and after the movie stopped at a new restaurant. Most of my walks were early in the morning, which is when I took the bottom photo. Had a great if toasty time in Rising Sun.

Cincinnati, Ohio (May 31, 2022)

My wife and I made a day trip to Cincinnati. Went by the Hard Rock Casino downtown (good eats and a fun time there) but I also took a walk around Cincinnati for a short while.

It is an interesting city with a lot of cool things to see and do. Course it is the home of the Reds, and while they were not in town, did go by the ballpark. Items at the Hard Rock Casino are authentic and cool to see. I also like a lot of the buildings to be found there.

Had a great time there, as always!

Memorial Day 2022 (May 30, 2022)

Took the photo at left yesterday, and decided to do the same on this Memorial Day. Took a walk first around the area, visiting some of the critters around the lake. Some of the baby geese are not so small anymore!

Rode out to the Air Force Museum, just wandering around the outside, and remembered those who gave the ultimate price for the rest of us. It is a price we can never repay.

West Virginia and Maryland (November 12-15, 2024)

Sights during our travels in West Virginia, Maryland, and even a stop (at John and Annie Glenn's house in Ohio) over a four day trip to ...
