Festival of Flight Motorcycle Show (October 5, 2019)

Final event my wife and I attended was the Festival of Flight Motorcycle Show. There were some amazing classic and custom motorcycles there, these are only a few of the many that was there. This is a new event of to the festival, this being its third year.
Being a motorcyclist myself, it was fun to wander with the people there, and to see these amazing machines. The Festival of Flight was remarkable and will be attending this again next year!!

Festival of Flight Parade (October 5, 2019)

At 11am on October 5 the Festival of Flight parade kicked off in New Carlisle, Ohio. Unique among the parades I have seen in that they had some 20 aircraft towed down the streets of the city. They also had the usual marching bands and other such parade features. The planes though were both amazing and amazingly unique.
I have to say it was one of the best parades I have ever seen. Of course, as I am sort of an aircraft manic...well, go figure!

Festival of Flight Car Show (October 4, 2019)

First time to this event which was held at New Carlisle, Ohio. Had a great time with my wife Debbie as we explored the cars on display. This free event had over 900 cars which was pretty remarkable. We wandered around quite a while checking out the vehicles and the people there .
This is a three day event and on the next day there are a couple of events that we want to see, the parade in the morning, and the motorcycle show in the afternoon/evening.

Aurora, Indiana (September 25, 2019)

Fun day along the Ohio River, with a visit to the Rising Sun area. This time visited Aurora, Indiana which is just a few miles from Rising Sun. It is another interesting old river town with a lot of very cool things to see. Debbie and me had eaten there when we first arrived on this latest visit. Below are some scenes shot during my walking tour. I had a great time exploring it and will do so again when I visit this area again and hopefully that visit will be soon!

Waco Fly-In, Troy, Ohio (September 21, 2019)

Amazing time this morning at the Waco Fly-in which was held in Troy, Ohio. The site was the location of the original location of the Waco factory which stood for the Weaver Aircraft Company. They built some remarkable aircraft back in the 20s-30's and many of the gliders used in the D-Day invasion in WW2. Many of the photos below are from the fly-in, while third from the bottom is from inside the museum. If you ever get the chance be sure to come out for this event.

Michigan Adventure (September 15-17)

Three day bus trip to Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. This was my first visit to Michigan although my wife had been there a few times. She was a good guide for this adventure. The Windmills were really something to see. I have seen a few in Ohio but not so many at all.
The Casino was really nice. Had some rain on the Sunday we got there which was cool to see as Ohio is currently in a drought. I got a few photos while there which I have to the left and below. Saw some signs of Fall (while have seen leaves changing here not sure if that is why or the lack of rain causing it) but there it was much cooler. As for the resort it is really impressive and a very nice place. For a first visit to the state it was a very good introduction and we had a fantastic time there.

Dayton Greek Festival (September 6, 2019)

When I saw this on the listing of events coming up, knew we had to go. So loaded Debbie in the car and headed out to the Dayton Greek Festival. The festival was a favorite of mine in Richmond, VA and that can be seen in that there are a number of posts at this site from those days.
This was my first Dayton Greek Festival. Our food was directly below (it was for both Debbie and me) . Other photos which include the Mayor of Dayton can be seen below.
It was a wonderful festival though the weather could have been just a little better. Still though, it was not constant rain but a couple of showers.
The church was remarkable. A favorite part is the tours and this was a beautiful church which was built in 1948. It was a grand event. The food, the music, the dancers, the beer (had Greek beer of course although other beer was available) and especially the company made for a very good and wonderous late afternoon and early evening event. We are already making plans for next years event!

West Virginia and Maryland (November 12-15, 2024)

Sights during our travels in West Virginia, Maryland, and even a stop (at John and Annie Glenn's house in Ohio) over a four day trip to ...
