Return to Rising Sun (August 29-31, 2023)

My wife and me had a great time, as usual, in Rising Sun, Indiana. Photos at left and below are from Rising Sun (at the Ohio River) and Aurora, as well as Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Always a fun area to hang out and explore.

Have to give a shoutout to "Hoosier IceHouse" in Lawrenceburg. Had lunch there, and it was outstanding. First time visit but not the last.

We go to this area often, and it is one of our favorite places to visit. I hope you enjoy this short look, and thank you for visiting my pages!

Greene County Fair (August 1, 2023)

Great time yesterday at the Greene County Fair which is held at the Fairgrounds in Xenia, Ohio. Nice drive there, and enjoyed visiting with the people and the amazing animals to be seen there.

There was also a great selection of fair food and there were rides (well, would be later, they fired those up at 4pm which was after we left).

Love Fair season in Ohio, and though this one is a smaller one, still remains one of the best and a favorite.

Rising Sun Visit (July 25-27, 2023)

We made a trip to Rising Sun, Indiana, which is a favorite place to visit for us. Took these photos (the first three) in Aurora, Indiana which is one of the small towns in the area.

Took the bird photos in Rising Sun, the Blue Heron on the Ohio River and the yellow bird during a walk around town.

It was a wonderful time as always seems to be the case there.

Air Show Practice (July 21, 2023)

We did not go to the Dayton Air Show this year, due to come prior commitments. It is a damn fine air show and a lot of fun, but will be returning to that in 2024.

What we did do though, was to go to Hairless Hare Brewing in Vandalia, Ohio. Excellent food and very tasty beer can be found there. Being across from the airport, give a good view of the planes which were practicing for the weekend air show.

Got a photo of the F-15 at left, and an F-16 just below that. At the bottom is a formation of F-15's.

It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed watching the fighters fly around. This is a great area for aviation and thankful to see sights such as these, and others while living here.

Barnstormers Carnival (July 16, 2023)

We went to this event which is held at the Springfield Airport in Springfield, Ohio. Free event except for the very good food at the food trucks, and airplane rides on the biplanes. Rode on one of those planes during our last visit in 2021.

Was a lot of things to see there, both on the ground and in the air. Both manned airplanes and r/c planes flew and the flying was excellent.

In addition to the aircraft on this Sunday, there was a car show. Some of the cars were rare and unique.

We were out of town last year and did not want to miss this. Was a great time on a beautiful day and looking forward to attending again in 2024!

Cockpit view (July 5, 2023)

Had to put this up after seeing the planes fly in on the 4th of July, went back out on July 5 and toured the aircraft. This is the cockpit of the B-29 Fifi. Looking like a certain spacecraft which flew in a certain galaxy far far away.

Was a fun experience seeing the B-29, the B-24 and the T-28 outside of the US Air Force Museum. That they were all flying historic aircraft was also a big plus.

The Air Force Museum here in Dayton is a national treasure for sure!

History arrives at US Air Force Museum (July 4, 2023)

Delayed due to the weather, these planes flew in to the museum on July 4 and I drove out to watch them fly in. Quite a crowd was there. T-6 Texan at left, B-24 "Diamond Lil" below that, and two photos of the B-29 "Fifi" below that. Rare birds indeed from WW2.

They had ground tours that day on the 4th and 5th. I came back on the 5th to tour them via motorcycle. Those photos on my "Racing with the Wind" Page.

West Virginia and Maryland (November 12-15, 2024)

Sights during our travels in West Virginia, Maryland, and even a stop (at John and Annie Glenn's house in Ohio) over a four day trip to ...
