A visit to Rising Sun Indiana (February 15-16, 2021)

A funny thing happened this week, Spring made an appearance for the first time this year. Went to one of our favorite places. Some different sights for your viewing pleasure. Aurora, Indiana at left, a barge on the Ohio River, and Sunset at Rising Sun.

Below that moon and reflection on the Ohio River. The Groundhog was through the hotel window. The Guitars were at Guitar Center on the way home. It was a fantastic trip and we had a wonderful time, which is usual when I get out on adventures with my wonderful wife.

Another look at the Snow (February 9, 2022)

Warming here for the next few days and the snow from last week is very slowly melting. That though will take a while, as it is finally over freezing but not a great deal. Took the photo at left while out driving to Huber Heights, Ohio, the one at the bottom is the lake here which is frozen and snow covered. There are actually three lakes in the neighborhood here.

Snow is certainly beautiful, and there is a chance this month of some more snow along the way, so may not be the last of that. However, looking forward to Spring, and soon riding on my motorcycle. That is also an amazing season and looking forward to those adventures.

Aftermath of the Storm (February 5, 2022)

It was quite a snow storm and the largest snow fall of the Winter here. In fact it cut an epic path from Texas into New England. We got some 6 inches best as I could tell. It started on February 2 with heavy rain, which changed over to freezing rain and sleet on the 3rd and the snow fell on top. Was concerned and ready for power outages but here the power stayed on.

At left was during the snow, bottom three photos are of the snow. Lake in the bottom photo froze and is covered in ice. Beautiful, but looking forward to Spring.

Calm Before the Storm (February 1, 2022)

Beautiful sunrise here in Ohio, and as you can see, the airport must be busy from all the contrails in the sky. Out early on this first day of February getting some tasks done before the snowstorm arrives in a couple of days. This storm may be significant event. We have had very little in the way of snow this Winter, that is looking like change in that regard is on the way.

Horses out and feeding, some ice fishing on the lakes, and the geese found a break in the ice on some local lakes. IF things happen as expected, will have more photos from the storm, power outages permitting!

New Year's Day in Indiana (January 11, 2022)

The day before, the day of New Year's Day and the day after we spent at Rising Sun, Indiana. Got a last look at the reindeer there (seen here at breakfast) and a few Christmas lights. Got to go to a dinner and see the band "Seven Bridges" from Nashville, TN which is an Eagles Tribute Band. They were pretty good, and was the first concert we have been to since seeing Keith Urban back when we lived in Virginia some 3 years ago.

It was a great time and enjoyed the trip. We have had both Covid shots and the booster and we also wore masks to prevent a good trip from becoming a bad one. Seems to have worked on this trip!

Christmas Sights (January 11, 2022)

A look back at Christmas lights and displays for 2021. Debbie and me had a wonderful time and saw some remarkable sights while we went to some places during drives around the region. We visited some great light displays and also visited some drive though light displays.

At left is a tree (in a neighborhood at that) in Tipp City, Ohio, below that just outside of Tipp City, and below that part of a drive thru display in Xenia, Ohio.

Fourth is Troy, Ohio downtown, and at bottom is downtown Tipp City. We also saw some displays in downtown Dayton, Huber Heights and a few other places out and about the region.

It was a beautiful Christmas, in my opinion the best I ever had .Weather was much warmer than usual and there was nothing but a trace of snow the month of December.

America's Packard Museum (November 4, 2021)

Visited for the first time yesterday, amazing museum. Discounted rate ($5) for seniors and some amazing Packard cars and other items. Packard also made aircraft engines in WW1, and WW2 as well as PT boat engines, and later even jet engines. The cars were amazing and most of them are in running shape. They are shown at a number of car shows around the US. The building seen at left is the original dealership in Dayton. Some of the cars have an amazing history. The car at very bottom for instance was the last car owned by the gangster Al Capone. If in Dayton for a visit, this is a must see and a wonderful place to explore the cars and other items from the era of Packard.

West Virginia and Maryland (November 12-15, 2024)

Sights during our travels in West Virginia, Maryland, and even a stop (at John and Annie Glenn's house in Ohio) over a four day trip to ...
