Next to Last Day of 2022 (December 30, 2022)

Wonderful change the past couple of days here. Over the days just before and after Christmas, we had the monster storm to deal with. Sure a White Christmas is beautiful but with wind chills down to -39 , the massive problems it caused with power outages and travel on a national level it was quite the adventure. Luckily here the lights stayed on, and we stayed home.

Still, last couple of days and thankfully for a few more days it is almost springlike. Temperatures are in the 60's which is great for this time of year, the snow is melted for the most part and get to walk and awake to views like these here around the lakes at my house. The rainbow was a really pleasant surprise. Comes with some rain but even that is a blessing as it washes the salt from the streets and as we are in a drought is a real bonus.

Sure there will be some more winter, hopefully more calm than the storms of the past few days, but days like this here in Ohio are a real blessing!

Christmas Sights (December 30, 2022)

One of our favorite things to do during Christmas time is to drive around listening to Christmas music and look at the lights. Seen below are two sights in downtown Dayton, followed by two houses in Huber Heights (three photos though) and finally the 151 foot tree in Carillon Park in Dayton. We did that a few times this year and really enjoyed those drives. Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas

First Snowstorm of Winter 2022/2023) December 22, 2022

Last night the big snowstorm hit, have been expecting it for the past few days. Came with a fury including high winds and the biggest snow since, well, since last winter. Hard to tell how much as with the 40-50 mph winds its hard to measure. Much of the snow has been blowing.

Did get out this morning though, and walked down to the lake to check out the snowfall, visit with the Canadian Geese, and just look it over. I do find snow beautiful and it was fun to get out for a bit. That bit was not long though with a temperature outside of -9 degrees at the time.

Christmas Displays at Rising Sun Casino (November 15-17, 2022)

One of our favorite things to do during Christmas season is the annual displays at Rising Sun Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana. It is for us a great way to kick off the holiday season. Yes, I am very fond of Thanksgiving too (a great food holiday indeed!) and yes, it is early though Christmas is one of the holidays that I feel the longer the better.

However, hearing the Christmas music, seeing the animated displays, all the decorations, the Christmas music and having a few Christmas themed drinks all makes for a wonderful time. They even have Christmas lights outside and lit up. The towns nearby don't turn their lights on till after the Thanksgiving holiday though they look to have them up and ready to go.

At any case, it was a magical two and a half days for me, and we enjoyed the visit. I hope you enjoy this early kick off to what I hope will be a magical Christmas season for all of you as this season kicks off !

Lawrenceburg and Aurora, Indiana (October 16-18, 2022)

Made a three day trip with my wonderful wife to some of our favorite cities in Southern Indiana. We have been there a number of times and felt like this was a good time to visit.

Took the first three photos at Lawrenceburg which is a fun town to explore. In the first two you can see some views of the Ohio River, and a few interesting sights. It was a beautiful fall day. During the three days in the area the temperature started out warm and then quickly cooled with nights at freezing.

Last two photos I took in Aurora, Indiana. The house is very old and can be toured, and the helicopter is fairly new. I have posted photos of that before but damn, as most of you probably know I have a thing for flying machines as well as birds too for that matter.

We had a wonderful time there, and look forward to our next visit. As always, thank you for visiting my pages!

Maryland and West Virginia (October 12-14, 2022)

Short road trip with my wife to Cumberland, Maryland (where I took the first three photos) and to Wheeling, WV (where I took the last three. Had a great time at both places, enjoying fantastic weather and beautiful fall color. We really like going to those places and especially during the fall. Nothing like the mountains this time of year. Really nice people except for the Trumpers who are as we all know fucking assholes.

Still, despite those morons, it was nice to get out and explore the sights to see in those states!

Mt. Pleasant, MIchigan (October 2-4, 2022)

A relaxing trip, stayed at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Had a great time, as its a very nice place. I enjoyed checking out the local area, though to be honest its out in basically its own little area. Did enjoy seeing the Fall color starting to happen during the trip.

Got a kick out of the "windmills" in Michigan, there are many in Ohio, but a lot in Michigan. Neat way to generate power and contrary to the rantings of the former moron President...no noise pollution.

Festival of Flight in New Carlisle, Ohio (October 1, 2022)

Good start to the first day of October, Debbie and me went to New Carlisle, Ohio for the "Festival of Flight". Have been before, but still very cool to see airplanes rolling down the road, and also some great good food (brats and sauerkraut) as well as refreshing frosty cold beverages.

Always a great time, just about the perfect small town festival. They look forward to this every year and frankly..so do we!

Keith Urban Concert in Columbus, Ohio (September 23, 2022)

Debbie and me headed out on a beautiful Friday to Columbus, Ohio where we headed to see the Keith Urban concert. When we left Virginia as a newly married couple after the house sale, we saw Keith in Charlottesville, Virginia. That was a remarkable show. So remarkable that when we saw he was coming to Ohio we made the drive (a few years later now) to see him once again.

As before a remarkable show, which we both greatly enjoyed. The man and his band were on fire, and it was two hours that seemed to pass much faster than that. If you ever get to see him, don't miss the opportunity

West Virginia and Maryland (November 12-15, 2024)

Sights during our travels in West Virginia, Maryland, and even a stop (at John and Annie Glenn's house in Ohio) over a four day trip to ...
